About Slade Griffin
Slade Griffin is the Director of Critical Infrastructure Security at Contextual Security Solutions where he leads the utility industry cyber security services practice. He has over 14 years experience in cyber security specializing in security assessments, forensic analysis, and incident response. Slade is passionate about security; blending his broad experience in the public, private and military sectors to help others tackle their own cyber security challenges.
At Contextual Security Solutions, his team supports a wide range of projects focused on addressing the cyber security challenges faced by the energy sector which include: risk and vulnerability assessments which utilize existing standards, guidelines, and regulations (NERC, NISTIR, ES-C2M2) to develop robust risk profiles of vendor products and utility systems. The team also conducts detailed penetration testing of RF communications, hardware, and networked systems in both standard IT and control system environments. He also participates in the National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization Resource (NESCOR) that is developing a comprehensive set of cyber security failure scenarios for the smart grid.
Prior to joining Contextual Security Solutions, Slade worked in multiple roles within the information security field ranging from forensic analysis, incident handling, policy development, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing. He also served in the United States Navy for six years in roles related to information systems security. Slade is a sought after speaker and instructor on the topic of emerging threat and attack vectors in multiple forums including conferences, training courses, SANS, and universities both as lecturer and instructor.
