Dr. Greg White is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and serves as the Director of the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security. Greg has been involved in computer and network security for nearly 30 years and earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University conducting research in Computer Network Intrusion Detection.
Greg has been involved in security instruction for many years. At the US Air Force Academy he developed and taught courses on Computer Security and Information Warfare; helped build the nation’s first undergraduate information warfare laboratory and twice received the Academy’s Computer Science Research Excellence Award. His work continues at UTSA where he continues to develop and teach courses and conduct research in computer and network security.
As a highly published author Greg has written numerous articles, conference papers, textbooks and textbook chapters on computer security. As a leader in cybersecurity education he is broadly recognized including awards for Exceptional Leadership in Information Assurance Education; the Air Force Association Distinguished Sustained Aerospace Education Award; and as a Distinguished Fellow of the Information Systems Security Association.
In addition to academic instruction, he has been actively engaged in the development & presentation of training & exercises for states & communities around the nation to develop viable & sustainable cybersecurity programs as well as in development of cybersecurity competitions including the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition & the CyberPatriot National High School Cyber Defense Competition.
